A Positive Development For Brightwells Yard

The publication of a Motion to Waverley Borough Council’s (WBC) full Council, proposed by Farnham Residents Councillor Tony Fairclough, calling upon Surrey County Council (SCC) to engage with local and financial stakeholders to develop an effective business plan for the Brightwells Yard Development, has met with almost instantaneous success.

The WBC Motion mirrored the initiatives of Farnham Residents Councillor Catherine Powell within SCC, and it is understood that local MP Greg Stafford will be meeting with the SCC Cabinet Member for Property, Infrastructure and Waste on Thursday 24 April for an update on the current status of the Brightwells Yard Development.

Following this meeting, and the preparation of a report by the SCC Estates Officers now responsible for Brightwells, SCC and WBC Portfolio Holders and key Members will meet with a view to ‘reset’ the joint relationship and work collaboratively to develop an effective business plan for the commercial elements of Brightwells Yard.

Said Cllr Fairclough :

“I’m delighted at such a fast and positive outcome for the residents of Farnham.

With all stakeholders now fully committed to working together on the creation of a business plan to maximise the potential of Brightwells Yard, I’m certain that our residents will begin to see positive developments in the very near future”.

Farnham Residents is committed to making Brightwells Yard a success for Farnham.
