This week, Farnham Residents’ Councillor Tony Fairclough presented the facts at the Waverley Budget Setting Council Meeting.
The average increase in car park charges is 4.65%
There is a 7.5% reduction in the up to 3 hour rate.
There is no change in the cost of staying 4 hours or more
Waverley is investing £250,000 in new ticket machines next year.
These new ticket machines will take all forms of contactless payment.
There will still be one machine taking cash payment in each car park.
The one-hour rate is increasing by 10p across the majority of car parks.
However, new machines mean cashfree users do not have to pay by RINGO.
50% of users park for one hour and of these, 58% choose to pay by RINGO.
New machines mean they no longer face the current 10p fee to use RINGO
Waverley is retaining a policy of not charging people to park on Sundays.
This adjustment in charges aims to encourage people to stay longer in our towns.
A strategy designed to stimulate the local economy and support local businesses.
The facts speak for themselves.
Farnham residents expect to be able to find a space in a well-maintained car park.
They expect their car parks to be well lit so that they can walk safely to their destination.
However, car parks require investment in order to improve, maintain and repair them.
And enforce them to ensure that there are spaces available when residents want them.
Farnham Residents will always take a pragmatic approach to providing the services that our residents and businesses require with the need to control costs and balance the budget
