Farnham Residents Councillors have been instrumental in securing almost £1.5millon in funding to build a brand new village hall for Rowledge residents.
Replacing a dilapidated hall which was beyond repair, the new hall will provide welcome facilities for residents, both young and old, with an expanded range of activities in an energy-efficient and resilient new building to be located on Fullers Road.
Since planning permission was granted in 2022, local architect, Jim Duffy and Farnham Residents Borough Councillor for Rowledge, Peter Clark have worked tirelessly to support this modern facility.
With Peter’s support, RVH Trustees made a CIL bid to Waverley Borough Council for £650,000, which was approved by the council earlier this year. Then the Farnham Residents County Councillor for South Farnham, Michaela Martin also stepped in to back the scheme, by supporting the Trustees in making their successful £800,000 bid to the Surrey County Council’s Surrey Big Fund.
It’s a project which is set to inspire the local community with Sarah Oliver, Head Teacher of Rowledge CofE Primary School commenting “to have a new modern, inspiring village hall will make the children even more proud to be part of their village”.
