Farnham Residents Councillor, David Beaman, has welcomed the improved bus service operated by Stagecoach on route 65 between Guildford, Farnham and Alton.
This improved service has been made possible through Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) funds from Central Government to Surrey and Hampshire County Councils.
The revised timetable provides more Monday to Saturday journeys operating an hourly service, whilst an hourly Sunday and Public Holiday service is now also operated.
As route 65 is the only public transport serving West Street, the restoration of a Sunday and Public Holiday service after almost 30 years is particularly welcome.

And Cllr Beaman is campaigning for further improvements
As the Waverley Borough Council representative on the Stakeholder Reference Group of Surrey County Council’s Enhanced Bus Partnership, David is continuing to campaign for BSIP funding from Surrey and Hampshire County Councils to enhance the level of service operated on route 18 that operates between Aldershot, Weybourne, Farnham, Wrecclesham and Whitehill.
With new housing developments along the entire route, he believes that pump priming finance from BSIP funds would be justified to increase the frequency of Monday to Saturday daytime service from hourly to every 30 minutes, and he would like to see a later evening service operating between Farnham and Whitehill to connect with train arrivals from London Waterloo at Farnham.
Farnham Residents councillors are committed to creating a sustainable, active, co-ordinated transport policy for Farnham that encourages people to use their cars less.
